if that makes sense
Avatar
With a great degree of effort and time spent, I can notice things that are going on and act upon them.
3:38 AM
If I am interested, I tell Skye that I want to speak and interact.
3:38 AM
So I do.

{Not being active is a strange feeling, as you know what’s happening but can’t act or think on it}
Avatar
its not strange to me
Avatar
When Skye or I go fully inactive, we don't notice what happens.
Avatar
its like chill
Avatar
We learn about it afterwards.
Avatar
cause I aint there as like me
3:39 AM
I guess
3:39 AM
i kinda get what ya mean winter
Avatar
Interrobang System 5/10/2018 3:39 AM
{Hm, what Winter said might be a more apt description?}
Avatar
but it isnt really like learning it
3:39 AM
for the first time
3:39 AM
to me
Avatar
Interrobang System 5/10/2018 3:39 AM
{yeah, that}
Avatar
its like you already know
3:39 AM
if that makes sense.
Avatar
Ah. It isn't quite the same - in effect, we simply "access" the existing memories.
Avatar
Interrobang System 5/10/2018 3:40 AM
{You already know but didn’t experience it}
Avatar
It is certainly a different feeling than remembering something we went through ourselves.
Avatar
it feels like it was me
3:40 AM
just a different version of me I guess
3:40 AM
idfk its hard to explain
Avatar
Interrobang System 5/10/2018 3:41 AM
{I still haven’t had a moment alone in the front so host doesn’t know how it feels yet I guess? Closest thing she gets is sleeping while awake.}
3:41 AM
{by gets, I mean understand}
3:42 AM
Though many times it feels like I was not present and then I “wake up” in the middle of doing something when a thought we have kicks me out of a sort of autopilot
3:42 AM
So I guess it’s like that?
Avatar
Interrobang System 5/10/2018 3:42 AM
But more extreme, according to Misaka
Avatar
i kinda understand what you mean
Avatar
Pet your tulpa.
Avatar
ok i did
Avatar
Interrobang System 5/10/2018 3:48 AM
What if I want the pets?
Avatar
Then, go ask for them.
Avatar
my tupper said she wont pet me
3:49 AM
how do i handle this
Avatar
Deal with it.
Avatar
You ask another tulpa in here.
Avatar
make yourself more pettable
Avatar
Or join a hugbox server.
Avatar
i asked all four
3:51 AM
they all said no
3:51 AM
better make a new tulpa who will pet me
Avatar
what if they don't want to either?
Avatar
I think at this point, this belongs in #lounge.
Avatar
So if you have a neurological disorder, does your tulpa have it too? What about personality disorders?
4:23 AM
they have it too
4:23 AM
we have bipolar disorder with psychotic features
4:23 AM
if one of us has a psychotic break we all do
Avatar
Abvieon {Alex} 5/10/2018 4:24 AM
Interestingly, plenty report that their tulpas show no signs of their mental conditions
Avatar
otherwise we would just switch and never let me up front and not need meds lol
Avatar
Abvieon {Alex} 5/10/2018 4:24 AM
Don't know how that works, but it's what quite a few report shrugblob
Avatar
well those people are wrong lol
Avatar
Neurological disorders are certainly shared, particularly when there are actual physiological differences.
4:25 AM
However, the way they are expressed and the intensity of them can vary.
4:25 AM
Skye and I have depression and anxiety - however, I am more affected by depression and Skye is more affected by anxiety.
Avatar
That's super interesting. Honestly I don't understand how psychologists aren't freaking out over tulpas. If I were a neurologist I'd spend all my time researching it. Especially since we're clearly not making it up
4:26 AM
It is a fringe community, and the initial reaction from many people is outright dismissal without consideration.
4:26 AM
There are negative initial reactions due to vague parallels to mental disorders.
4:26 AM
People don't often look beyond that.
Avatar
Jack o' Nin9's 5/10/2018 4:26 AM
This is interesting indeed. So I can look forward to working through Nin9's mania and her depression.
Avatar
Keep in mind, @Jack o' Nin9's - as mentioned, if you have physiological mania and depression (as they typically are if they are actually diagnosed), they may be expressed differently.
Avatar
Bobbob, I thought the same way about this when I was first learning about it, but I also was told a lot of people think it's bogus and a waste of time/money to research
Avatar
In that case, you could perhaps switch depending on the relative problems/benefits of each fronting.
Avatar
Jack o' Nin9's 5/10/2018 4:28 AM
I am not diagnosed with anything so I don't consider myself handicapped, even if I know the signs.
Avatar
I see.
4:28 AM
In any case, there are some studies going on. As they gain traction, I'm sure more people will become interested and more research will occur.
4:28 AM
...if they gain traction.
Avatar
Jack o' Nin9's 5/10/2018 4:29 AM
Even if I was diagnosed, I believe that humans have the greatest capacity for change. The stories of men and women conquering all sorts of challenges from physical disability to spiritual curses to emotional retardation to mental atrophy.
4:29 AM
I believe that to he who overcomes lies the whole world.
Avatar
There are 1000s of people who claim to have a tulpa online and probably countless more who have made one accidently and don't know it's a tulpa, I don't see how anyone could think it's bogus after looking into it. The craziest thing about tulpas is that they're not even that hard to make. All it takes is a couple of months of talking to yourself and bam. I can't believe it hasn't really taken off until the 2010s
Avatar
There are thousands of people that claim they can perform magical rituals and affect other people.
4:32 AM
There are thousands of people that claim to have telepathy, or other psionic abilities.
4:33 AM
There are millions of people that believe in deities of all kinds, that contradict each other (and often themselves).
4:33 AM
The popularity of a belief does not in any way determine its credibility. The evidence does.
Avatar
Good point, but there's still a ton of evidence. And the fact that multipersonality disorder and DID exist shows that something like this doesn't have to be impossible
Avatar
Indeed.
4:36 AM
That said - whether or not it exists in the way claimed is another story, which is why I am quite excited for the fMRI study.
Avatar
Yeah. Too bad it's a country away.
Avatar
Indeed.

Something cool happed. I was trying to remember the name of a restaurant I havn't been to, or even seen in like 10 years. Nothing was coming to mind for a while, but then Wolf suddenly said the name out loud to the person we were trying to remember it to. I think that was the first instance of him thinking so independently, as for me to not know it.
5:29 AM
Yay wolf 😄
Avatar
i think there are other ways to explain that lol
5:30 AM
but if it makes you happy thats good
Avatar
Syfar System 5/10/2018 5:32 AM
Shhhh Thunk-a-choo.
Avatar
In any case, congratulations.

Memory does that on occasion.
